Tanya Shanker’s latest track, CyberFantasy, masterfully merges modern sounds with a nostalgic twist, reminiscent of the Britney Spears and Beyonce era. Tanya Shanker draws connections between past and present music, perfectly captured in this track. The music video features her in a neon-lit room, singing about the complexities of an online relationship. The song’s bold trap beats add a unique edge to the nostalgic feel. Despite drawing inspiration from iconic musicians, Shanker admits she often wishes she had been born in the 1960s or 1970s, where she believes she would have “been a typical rockstar."

For this song, the Bengaluru-based artist collaborated with co-composer, producer and mentor Richard Andrew Dudley. Speaking about her inspiration, Shanker, speaking with Rolling Stone said, “I think with a lot of the themes dealing with being chronically online or being a citizen of the internet, Richard and I thought that drawing from the era when the World Wide Web had just emerged would be the most ideal way of going about making the EP."

    With the release of CyberFantasy, and her music inspired by Britney Spears and Beyonce, Tanya Shanker shared her thoughts on which era she wishes she had been born in. The singer said, “If there was an era that I could have been born in, I would say probably the Sixties or Seventies because rock music was just starting to gain popularity at that time and it would have been amazing to see the rise of legendary artists like the Beatles, Fleetwood Mac, Pink Floyd and more. I always tell Richard that if I was born during that time, I would have certainly been a typical rockstar."

This friend took the time to delve into the lyrics and production, offering detailed insights that Shanker deeply appreciated. Such meaningful and in-depth feedback was a significant boost for her.     Shanker is now focused on touring with her solo project, Tanya Shanker Collective, and is also working on exciting collaborations with other artists. In addition to CyberFantasy, her latest project includes tracks like Takeover, Dopamine, Mirage, and Love Me Then.
