The Transport department organised a road safety awareness walkathon for college students on Friday in association with the National Service Scheme (NSS).

A. Muthamma, Transport Secretary inaugurated the walk in the presence of A. S. Sivakumar, Transport Commissioner, as part of the observance of 36th National Road Safety Month.

A. Kumaran, Deputy Commissioner, K.V. Seetharama Raju, executive engineer and Satish Kumar, NSS coordinator took part in the event.

More than 350 students participated in the walkathon that began at Gandhi Thidal and passed through parts of the city before culminating at the starting point.
