Ban on drones, paragliders for Republic Day celebrations

Chennai: Flying of drones, paragliders and other remotely operated electronic gadgets is banned ahead of Republic Day celebrations. Republic Day celebrations will take place near the Labour statue on Kamarajar Salai on Marina Promenade.
An order under section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, has been issued, prohibiting the operation of drones, remote-controlled microlight aircraft, and paragliders within the Greater Chennai Police jurisdiction till Feb 23.
City police said they have also designated a few areas as red zones for security purposes. These include the vicinity of Marina beach, routes taken by the Governor from Raj Bhavan to Marina and the reoute used by the chief minister from his residence on Chittaranjan Salai to Marina.
