‘Sports activities help build resilience, boost self-confidence’

Highlighting the importance of sports activities in building resilience, overcoming challenges, boosting self-confidence, Deputy Commissioner B. Fauzia Tarannum said that sports activities offer a multifaceted approach to healing power in improving physical health and mental well-being.

Addressing a gathering after inaugurating a three-day sports fest organized by Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Officials and Employees Union at Chandrashekar Patil Stadium here on Thursday, Ms. Tarannum said that the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj officials have to deal with various work pressure leading to high levels of stress. However, sports activities will play a significant role in reducing mental stress in such conditions, she added.

Ms. Tarannum lauded the contribution made by Rural Development and Panchayat Raj officials in conducting various activities as part of Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme during the parliamentary elections resulting in her bagging the Best Performing District Election Officer Award from the Election Commission of India.

Police Commissioner Sharanappa S. Dhage said that the objective of such sports events is to foster not just athletic talents but also values of discipline, teamwork and mutual cooperation.

Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Bhanwar Singh Meena appreciated the Employees Union for naming all the 14 teams after welfare programmes of the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department.
