Mohali: The Nayagaon jewellery shop robbery case has hit a roadblock as authorities struggle to identify the perpetrator, whilst the shop owner's lack of cooperation raises questions. A week into the investigation, the robber's identity remains unknown despite police efforts.
Local authorities indicate that area residents have been unable to identify the suspect from CCTV footage, suggesting he may be from outside the locality. Despite circulation of surveillance footage in neighbouring areas, no one has come forward with information about the suspect's identity.
The investigation is further complicated by the jeweller's reluctance to assist the police in their enquiries.
Mohali Superintendent of Police (SP) Jyoti Yadav (investigations) said, "We are in the process of identifying the accused, for which we have circulated his CCTV footage, but he remains unidentified. The police also showed the footage to area residents, but they also refused to identify the accused. It seems that he is an outsider. But our CIA team is following the case, and we will soon identify the accused."
Police sources in Nayagaon reveal the shop owner's uncooperative behaviour, including his reluctance to provide a statement or assist in identifying the culprit. Authorities are considering the possibility that the incident might have been fabricated, though they maintain they cannot make accusations without concrete evidence.
