Karaikudi All Women Police have arrested a 28-year-old man under Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) for impregnating a 15-year-old girl at Karaikudi in Sivaganga district.
Police said that as the victim suffered from stomach pain, she was admitted to a hospital in Karaikudi. During treatment, the doctors learned that the victim was four months pregnant.
Following this, Karaikudi AWPS police were informed. During investigation, police found that the accused, who was a neighbour of the victim, using his acquaintance with the victim’s family often visited their house.
On one such visit in last September, when he learned that the victim was alone, he sexually assaulted her.
The accused was booked under section 5(l)(whoever commits penetrative sexual assault on the child more than once or repeatedly), 5(n)(whoever being a relative of the child through blood or adoption or marriage or guardianship or in foster care or having a domestic relationship with a parent of the child or who is living in the same or shared household with the child, commits penetrative sexual assault on such child), 5(j)(ii)(makes the child pregnant as a consequence of sexual assault) and 6(punishment for aggravated penetrative sexual assault).
