Truck collides with bikes in northwest Delhi, 2 dead, 1 grievously injured

New Delhi: Two men on a motorcycle died and a rider on another bike suffered grievous injuries when a truck collided with the two vehicles in northwest Delhi's Swaroop Nagar on Wednesday.
The deceased were identified as Shambhu Thakur (42) and Arvind Singh (48), residents of Burari, who worked with private firms.
Police received information around 11.30 pm regarding a fatal accident at gali no. 16, Lal Building, Swaroop Nagar. Responding to it, police rushed to the spot and found two bikes involved in a fatal collision with the truck. Police said the three victims were rushed to the hospital. "They were bleeding, and two were declared brought dead," police said, adding, the injured person, identified as Bijender, a resident of Bhalswa Dairy, is undergoing treatment.
During the inquiry, police found that all three were heading to their residences in Burari. Two of the deceased were friends, said police.
A truck bearing a UP number plate, loaded with bricks, came from Libaspur and drove rashly and negligently, colliding with the two bikes. "The truck driver fled the scene after the accident. Efforts are on to find the driver through the owner of the truck," police said.
A senior police officer stated that multiple teams have been formed to crack the case and are scanning CCTV footage to ascertain the sequence of events and the route taken by the accused to flee.
Police said a case under sections 281 (rash driving or riding on a public way), 125 A (act endangering life or personal safety of others), and 106 (1) (causing death by negligence) of BNS was registered at Swaroop Nagar police station.
According to police, both the deceased were sole breadwinners for their families. Earlier this month, two young men died, and another was critically injured when their motorcycle collided with a truck at Mahadev Chowk.
In another fatal accident, near Bangla Sahib Gurdwara, a 55-year-old man was killed after being struck by a vehicle, which is yet to be identified, said police. The incident was reported on Jan 17. The victim was rushed to the hospital, where he was declared brought dead, said police.
