Pune: Madhya Pradesh chief minister Mohan Yadav on Wednesday appealed to industrialists in Maharashtra to invest in his state, thus taking the historic relationship between the two states forward.
Speaking at an interaction with investors in Pune, he said, "Madhya Pradesh has a special connection with Maharashtra. Right from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj to Ahilyabai Holkar to the Scindia family, history shows the bond between these two. Even now, places like Indore, Gwalior and Ujjain have maintained that deep relations. While our govt has created a conducive atmosphere I urge industrialists here to invest there."
Yadav pointed out that IT, agriculture and dairy farming were some of the sectors common in both states in terms of growth opportunities. "Madhya Pradesh has a flourishing mining industry, and there is even a lot of opportunity in the tourism sector that investors can explore. Maharashtra has good educational institutions, and some of them are already setting up their campuses in our state."
Criticising Congress, he said, "Madhya Pradesh was formed in 1956, and it was mostly Congress that had its govt there. However, till 2003, it hardly witnessed any development, other than five medical colleges. The BJP govt has in the last 20 years set up 30 medical colleges."
