Jammu & Kashmir put themselves in the driver's seat after Day 1 of the Ranji Trophy match against Mumbai at BKC Ground in Mumbai. After bundling the host for 120 runs in their first innings, Jammu & Kashmir ended the day at 174/7 taking a lead of 54 runs at the end of Day 1.
Mumbai made a strong comeback thanks to their bowlers especially right arm pacer Mohit Awasthi who finished with 3 wickets. Left-arm spinner Shams Mulani who bagged two wickets. For Jammu & Kashmir, Shubham Khajuria batted brilliantly for Jammu & Kashmir scoring 53 runs before getting dismissed by Mulani. With half of the team already back into the pavilion for 113 runs, Abid Mushtaq played a crucial knock of 46 runs before Mohit Awasthi dismissed him by trapping him leg before wicket.

Despite Shardul Thakur's fine Half Century (51 runs), J&K Pacers bundled out fame Mumbai For 120 Runs. Rohit SHarma who returned to play domestic cricket after 19 years was out for just 3 runs of 19 balls, while Yashasvi Jaiswal too failed to score runs. Expect for Shardul, no other Mumbai nbatter were able to stay put on the wicket with skipper Rahane, Shreyas Iyer, Shivam Dube all getting out cheaply.
For Jammu and Kashmir, Umar Nazir Mir and Yudvir Charak finished with 4 wickets apiece
After a flurry of wickets in the first session, Shardul Thakur and Tanush Kotian have done a repair job for Mumbai with their unbeaten 63-run partnership and have helped them cross the 100-run mark at lunch.
