ERCP-PKC Link Project renamed Ramjal Setu Link Project
Jaipur: CM Bhajan Lal Sharma announced on Wednesday that Parvati-Kalisindh-Chambal-Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (PKC-ERCP) Link Project has been renamed Ramjal Setu Link Project (RSLP) to commemorate the first anniversary of the grand consecration of Lord Shri Ram at Ayodhya's Ram Janmabhoomi.
During the signing of an MoA for the revised PKC project on Dec 17 in presence of PM Narendra Modi, water from the Parvati, Kalisindh and Chambal rivers was ceremoniously poured into the Ram Setu Jal Sankalp Kalash as a sacred offering.
Following the renaming, the CM unveiled the project's official poster at his residence and recalled that on this very day last year, Lord Shri Ram was enshrined in his grand temple at Ayodhya after a wait of 500 years.
"Drawing inspiration from Shri Ram's legendary bridge across the sea, the govt, under PM Modi's leadership, has undertaken this ambitious river-linking project to ensure water security for Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh," said Sharma.
Ramjal Setu Link Project will channel surplus monsoon water from the Chambal River and its tributaries—Kunnu, Kool, Parvati, Kalisindh, and Mej—into the Banas, Morel, Banganga, Ruparail, Parvatani and Gambhir river basins. The project is expected to provide 4,102 million cubic meters (MCM) of water, including 522 MCM of recycled water, ensuring sustainable water availability for irrigation, drinking, and industrial use.
