Chhapra: Saran range DIG, Nilesh Kumar, on Wednesday ordered dismissal of arrested Maker (Saran) station house officer (SHO), Ravi Ranjan Kumar, from the service. The order would be effective from Jan 21 this year.
On Jan 10, during a vehicle-checking drive under Maker police station, the SHO along with homeguard driver Anil Kumar Singh, forcibly snatched a bag containing Rs 32 lakh from a gold trader, Rohan Kumar Gupta, a resident of Chhapra. Gupta was going to Muzaffarpur for a business trip.
The next day, Gupta lodged an FIR in Chhapra Town PS. The police arrested SHO and recovered the entire money from the room of the absconding homeguard driver. A case was lodged against him in Maker PS.
The SDPO (Marhaura), Naresh Paswan, was asked to conduct an inquiry into the matter by SP Kumar Ashish, and the SHO was taken into custody.
Based on the report of the SDPO, the SP recommended to the DIG for stern action against the SHO. The SP also recommended to Saran DM for termination of service of homeguard driver.
