BJP gears up for local body polls with 3 crucial decisions in a day
Nagpur: Gearing up for the local body polls, the BJP has taken three crucial decisions on Wednesday to create greater synergy between the BJP ministers and grassroot workers. The first decision taken on Wednesday was the creation of a "chief coordinator" post, who will act as a bridge between ministers and cadres in each district.
The second decision was to appoint a personal assistant to every BJP minister solely for better coordination with party workers. The third decision was the appointment of observers for local body polls, a routine process that the party started well in advance to ensure a big win in the local body elections.
Sudhir Deulgaonkar, the former aide of Union minister for road transport and highways Nitin Gadkari, has been appointed as BJP state unit's chief coordinator. Party sources said he has been told to stay at the BJP state HQ in Mumbai for at least two days every week. During his days in office, he will meet with cadres from across the state, take inputs on their work related to the government, and track progress.
Similarly, the PAs for every minister too will function as the connecting link between the ministers, the works undertaken by the ministries, and the party's chief coordinator. While the appointment letter does not go into too many details, sources say Deulgaonkar will filter out queries from party cadres related to department-wise works and forward them to the PAs of respective ministers. This two-tier system will ensure that PAs are not directly overloaded with queries from party cadres and that queries are routed through the chief coordinator.
This coordination will give party workers a greater say in administration and BJP hopes to reap benefits in the local body polls.
The BJP is moving with full momentum and it has announced the appointment of observers for Bhandara & Gondia districts for local body polls. Veteran leader Sanjay Bhende will take charge of Bhandara while former MLC Girish Vyas will be the observer for Gondia.
Though the dates for the local body polls have not been declared yet, the general perception is that it should happen in the next couple of months.
