In a freak incident, at least eight women were injured after driver of the DJ truck drove his vehicle through a wedding procession which according to him was not moving fast enough, said a report. In incident took place in Gujarat's Himatnagar January 18.

Times of India reported that the wedding procession had the groom atop a horse at the front followed by dancers and latern-holders. A group of women was dancing behind them and the DJ truck followed.

The driver wanted the group of women dancers to move quickly. But amid loud music, he wasn't able to convey this as his voice drowned out in loud music.

He tried to warn the dancers several times, but then suddenly accelerated the vehicle hitting the dancing women. Many of them suffered fractures.

The DJ truck driver drove on for 100 metres after hitting the women, abandoned the vehicle and ran away.

People in the procession rushed to help injured women and took them to Himatnagar Civil Hospital. Eight women have fractures in both legs. Other injuries have also been reported.

Lila Rathod (40) a resident of Derol village in Himatnagar filed a police complaint in this regard. An offence of rash driving and endangering lives of others has been registered under Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) and Motor Vehicle Act.
