CMDA Minister inspects ongoing projects under Vada Chennai Valarchi Thittam

Minister for Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA) P.K. Sekarbabu inspected projects under the Vada Chennai Valarchi Thittam (VCVT) on Wednesday (January 23, 2025). The scheme comprises 505 projects worth ₹385 crore, expected to benefit over 3.85 lakh residents.

Key projects include the constructing new blocks at the Egmore Children’s Hospital, renovating the Royapuram railway station, and building 700 housing units in Royapuram. Infrastructure works, such as road and underground drainage improvements, will also be undertaken, a press release said.

The programme was launched on March 14, 2024, with an initial allocation of ₹4,500 crore followed by an additional ₹6,350 crore, sanctioned in November 2024. CMDA authorities and elected representatives were also present.
