HC adjourns plea for special prosecutor in evidence tampering case against Antony Raju

Updated - January 23, 2025 09:57 pm IST - KOCHI

The Kerala High Court on Thursday further adjourned to January 28 the hearing on a petition seeking appointment of a special public prosecutor for the conduct of a criminal case pending before the Nedumangad Judicial Magistrate Court against MLA and former Transport Minister Antony Raju in connection with the tampering of evidence in a 1990 drug smuggling case.

In his petition, Anil K. Emmanuel, a journalist, said it was a fit case for appointing a special prosecutor since the High Court and the Supreme Court had observed that the conduct on the part of Mr. Raju and other accused eroded public trust in the judicial system and that the allegation was of such gravity that it interfered with the judicial functions and administration of justice.
