Jind: For the last 23 days, patwaris have set up a camp at a govt school in Kinana village in Jind district, causing disruption in the children's education. The patwaris are taking training in the classrooms, and the children are being forced to study in the open amid winter chill.
While the authorities are maintaining a stoic silence on the issue, the schoolchildren and teachers are angry.
Sources from Kinana village, located on the Jind-Rohtak road, claimed that the training was scheduled to continue for several months. In such a case, children's education will inevitably suffer, they said, adding that around 200 patwaris were receiving training at the school, and five classrooms had been fully occupied for this purpose.
A teacher from the school, speaking on the condition of anonymity, mentioned that the institute imparts education to children up to Class 12, including the girls. The board exams for the children will begin in a month's time, but no attention is being paid to this issue. Due to the constant movement of patwaris throughout the day, the learning environment has deteriorated and children are not able to focus. Their attention gets diverted. The authorities should take cognisance of all this, said the teacher.
Meanwhile, village sarpanch Kavita Devi has written to the district commissioner, requesting that an alternative location be found for the training of the newly inducted patwaris.
The sarpanch mentioned that children from five nearby villages come to Kinana Govt School for their education, and the prevailing situation was adversely affecting their studies. Therefore, action should be taken considering the future of the rural children.
According to sources, education department officials have remained completely mum on the issue. Despite being informed multiple times, no action has been taken, they said.
District education officer Vijay Lakshmi said the Jind administration was looking for an alternative location for the patwaris' training.
