The Telangana Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) on Wednesday rejected all claims that it was enroute to privatising its depots.
The statement comes after former Transport Minister and Bharat Rashtra Samithi leader Puvvada Ajay Kumar alleged that the TGSRTC intended to privatise depots by adding electric buses to its fleet.
The TGSRTC clarified that it operates all depots. Electric buses have been taken on gross cost contract model given that procuring them was deemed cost-intensive. Electric buses were first added to the fleet as the Union government’s Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles came into being. Later, buses were ordered by the TGSRTC’s own tendering process under the National Electric Bus Programme.
As regards the integration of TGSRTC workers with the government workforce, the committee that was reviewing the matter was yet to submit its report, TGSRTC stated.
