In a display of cold defiance, Democratic Senator John Fetterman arrived at US President Donald Trump’s inauguration in a black hoodie, grey shorts and sneakers – braving the cold temperatures outside and standing in contrast to others who were dressed in formal attire.
Temperatures in the nation’s capital hovered around 20 degrees with a wind chill in the teens, as the senator entered the Capitol. Notably, the Inauguration Day on Monday was the first to be held indoors in 40 years due to the Arctic cold outside.

However, this did not deter Fetterman, 55, who has a long history of attending black tie dinners and other formal public settings in a hoodie and shorts. The hoodie and shorts had become somewhat of a signature look for the senior leader.

As the Capitol Rotunda was filled with guests anticipating a transfer of power and Trump’s return to the White House, Fetterman was seen in the front row sitting comfortably with his legs stretched out. He is one of the most Trump-friendly Democratic Senators and recently met the newly sworn-in President at Mar-a-Lago.

During the visit with Trump last week, the 6-foot-8-inch Senator said, “I’m not just a Senator for Democrats ‒ I’m a Senator for all Pennsylvanians." Trump also praised Fetterman as a “commonsense person" in an interview with the Washington Examiner.
The Senator has also signalled openness to crossing party lines and backing some of Trump’s picks for his cabinet and other key administration roles.
