BTS is undeniably one of the most popular names in the entertainment industry. With their fame, fans are often curious about the members’ personal lives. While much is known about the septet’s lives after their debut, they have largely kept their pre-debut lives under wraps. But recently, BTS leader, Kim Namjoon, aka RM (Rap Monster), surprised the ARMY by sharing his childhood picture and details about his birth.
On Monday, January 20, the 30-year-old idol, who usually keeps his family out of the limelight, shared a picture on his Instagram Stories of himself and his father. In the photo, RM’s dad could be seen posing for the camera while carrying his little son on his back in their home. A 3-year-old RM was thoroughly enjoying the piggyback ride.

In the next story, the BTS leader shared details about his birth. As per the information, RM was born on September 12, 1994, and he weighed 4.47 Kg at his birth. In Korea, the average weight for male newborns ranges from 2.5 Kg to 4 Kg.
The new pictures shared by RM immediately created a buzz among his fans. While a section could not get over the adorable picture of the young K-pop idol with his dad, others thanked RM’s mother for carrying him.

Someone else penned, “I really want to give Joonie’s mother a big hug, she worked really hard."
Another fan mentioned, “I almost forgot he was a big baby! Respect for Mama Kim!"
Speaking of RM, the 30-year-old is currently fulfilling his mandatory military service. He enlisted in December 2023 along with his other bandmates V, Jimin and Jungkook, and is scheduled to be discharged with them around June 2025.
On the work front, RM released his second studio album, Right Place, Wrong Person, in May 2024. In December last year, the K-pop idol also released a documentary titled Right People, Wrong Place. Directed by Lee Seok Jun, the film focused on the BTS leader’s journey in making his second solo album. The documentary had limited screenings and was released on December 5.
