Patna: Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) commissioner Animesh Kumar Parashar, along with other senior officials, inspected the dumping yard at Ramchak Bairiya here on Tuesday. He expressed satisfaction over the site's condition and recommended plantation in the area to enhance its greenery.
The inspection covered several areas, including the weighbridge platform, cement concrete road sections A and B, two fire hydrants, a newly constructed shed, and the animal crematorium. The commissioner issued instructions to maintain proper waste processing procedures in accordance with solid waste management rules.
He also directed the South Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited executive engineer to set up high mast lights to ensure proper illumination. Besides, he asked the officials to install continuous water sprinkling equipment at the dumping site.
Every day, the city generates around 1,000 to 1,200 metric tonnes of garbage, which is transported to Ramachak Bariya. The PMC also has disposed of legacy waste, which accumulated here for over the last 15 years. The civic body officials, however, said they have disposed of almost 75% of the legacy waste in the last four years.
The inspection team comprised additional municipal commissioner Rajan Sinha, executive engineers, city managers, and other officers of the civic body.
