Modi, Chandel Christian to face off in WVAASM football final

Imphal, January 20 2025: Modi and Chandel Christian triumphed in their respective semifinal matches to set up title clash of the football event of the 57th Western Valley Area Annual Sports Meet 2025.Modi fought back from a goal down to edge past Unopat-B 2-1 in the first semifinal played at Khambathel playground, Chandel on Monday.

Unopat-B took the initiative when Chavanhring found the back of the net in the 14th minute.

However, Modi responded swiftly, levelling the score in the 15th minute through Kl Thotha.

The decisive moment came in the 80th minute when Ws Minthang scored the winning goal, sealing Modi's place in the final.

The second semifinal saw Chandel Christian beat Thungcheng FC in a penalty shootout.

The game stretched to penalties after a goalless stalemate.

In the shootout, Chandel Christian prevailed 4-2 against their opponents, with Thumlarson, Konitha, Rakesh and Shelminthang converting their shots.
