Pimple Saudagar: On Sunday, January 19, residents of Roseland Residency CHS organized the “3rd Cycle Recycle and Donation Drive,” donating 150 bicycles to underprivileged students. The initiative, held at 10:30 am, aimed to support rural students in accessing education.
The event was graced by Padma Bhiku Ramji Idate, awarded in 2023 for his efforts in uplifting the Banjara community. Other notable guests included BJP City President and former corporator Shatrughan Kate, Dr. Kunda Bhise, Chairperson of Unnati Social Foundation, and Sanjay Bhise, the foundation’s founder.
Residents of Roseland donated 50 bicycles to the Savitribai Phule Shikshan Mandal, an institution established by Padma Shri Idate. The drive was led by engineer and cycling enthusiast Chandan Chaurasia, Dhaval Prajapati, and senior citizen Vijay Mulkar, who worked tirelessly to ensure its success.
The initiative collected unused bicycles from society’s parking lots, with residents contributing funds for their repair. Organizations like the Shatrughan Kate Youth Foundation and Unnati Social Foundation provided additional financial support to restore the bicycles to working condition.
Speaking at the event, Padma Shri Idate emphasized the importance of such initiatives. “In remote areas, students face numerous challenges accessing education. By providing them with functional bicycles, we can help them progress academically. Roseland Society’s innovative approach is commendable,” he said.
Vinod Patil, a social worker, praised the effort, saying, “The Cycle-Recycle Donation Drive is an inspiring initiative that provides rural students with educational opportunities and transportation.”
Shatrughan Kate also commended the initiative, stating, “This small act of cycle donation can bring hope to underprivileged students.”
The event was hosted by Shraddha Deshmukh and Vice Chairman Vikram Shinde, with Chairman Sandeep Thenge delivering the vote of thanks. Residents of Roseland Society have donated 150 bicycles since the initiative began in 2016, showcasing the power of community-driven efforts to create meaningful change.
