Justice K. Lakshman of Telangana High Court on Tuesday passed an order for the release of four persons accused of being involved in the Lagacharla violence reported on November 11 last year in Vikarabad district.

The four accused — Mudavath Ramesh, Mudavath Gopal Naik, Mythari Madharaiah and Pathlavath Mangya Naik — had been in Central Prison of Sangareddy at Kandi for the past two months since their arrest in the case. The Bomraspet police of Vikarabad district issued two separate First Information Reports after furious mobs attacked the vehicle of District Collector Prateek Jain and attempted to assault him and other officials protesting proposed acquisition of their lands for ‘pharma village’.

Former MLA Patnam Narender Reddy of BRS was arrested by police in the case accusing him of conspiracy. He was made the first accused in the case. The former MLA eventually secured bail and was released. The four accused moved the HC by filing a criminal petition seeking their release and quashing of the docket order of their remand report.

The judge observed in his order that nothing was mentioned about the role of the four petitioners in the statements of the witnesses. Nothing was said against the petitioners in the matter, he noted.

The judge directed the prison superintendent to release the four petitioners on execution of a personal bond for ₹25,000 each.
