Time to usher in Congress era for progress and prosperity: Pappu Yadav
New Delhi: Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Devendra Yadav, along with MP Pappu Yadav and other party workers, campaigned in the Badli assembly constituency on Tuesday. A large crowd of supporters took part in the public meetings organised in Samaypur and Swaroop Nagar ahead of the assembly polls.
Recalling the "15 years of golden rule" by the former CM Sheila Dikshit's govt in Delhi, Pappu Yadav said that the time had come to say goodbye to 11 years of Arvind Kejriwal's "misrule" and to again usher in Congress era "to resume the progress and prosperity of the area".
"The presence of thousands of people in support of Devendra Yadav shows that people have made up their minds for change in Delhi. Under Kejriwal's tenure, unemployment and inflation were at a record-breaking high and people were suffering," claimed the MP from Bihar.
"The needy have stopped getting pensions and ration. The standard of education has declined, the health system has completely collapsed, pollution is becoming deadly, and people are dying due to waterlogging and water-borne diseases like malaria, dengue, and chikungunya, but govts here are only in the fight to gain power with constant shadow boxing," he alleged.
Devendra Yadav also said that the people of Badli had made up their minds for change. "Bhalswa landfill is in Badli, and I promise that as soon as I am elected from Badli, I will propose a new scheme to dispose of the mountain of garbage here, so that people of Badli can get relief from the toxic landfill. I will prepare a blueprint for the deployment of special employees for the cleanliness of the area, so that the sanitation system in the area remains effective," he told the public of Swaroop Nagar.
The DPCC chief added, "I promise the people of Delhi, including Badli, that as soon as a Congress govt is formed, we will pass an order in the first cabinet meeting to ensure that the five guarantees of Congress reach the people of Delhi quickly. People have faith and trust in Congress, and our govt will not betray the public's trust." The five guarantees include Rs 8,500 stipend (per month) to youth for a year, Rs 2,500 to women, subsidised cylinder and ration kit at Rs 500, Rs 25 lakh health insurance cover, and 300 units of free electricity.
Devender Yadav further stated that they witnessed broken and potholed roads, as well as silt on the streets, during their campaign. "Kejriwal and his MLA have only cheated us and done nothing for the area," he alleged.
In a separate development, the Congress candidate from Uttam Nagar, Mukesh Sharma, held a padyatra in several areas, including Bhagwati Garden, Bhagwati Garden Extension and Jai Bharat Enclave. Sharma said, "My election agenda is to develop the area and stop extortions by AAP and BJP," he said.
