The NSE Nifty 50 ended 1.28% or 299.45 points down at 23,045.30 and the BSE Sensex closed 1.60% or 1,235.08 points down at 75,838.36.

All of the 12 sectors on the NSE ended in the red, with the Nifty Realty, Energy, PSU Bank and Finance being the top losers.

The market breadth was skewed in favour of the sellers as 2,774 stocks declined, 1,202 advanced and 112 remained unchanged on the BSE.
