House burglar involved in seven offences nabbed

The Central Zone Task Force team, along with the Keesara police, apprehended a habitual burglar while he was riding a stolen vehicle and planning another theft. Seven property theft cases were detected, and stolen items, including two motorcycles and house-breaking tools, were seized. The accused has a history of over 40 thefts since 2007.

The arrested individual, identified as Bharath Kumar Sharma, aged 39, a labourer residing near Charminar, is a repeat offender. The latest arrest has led to the detection of seven property theft cases, including five cases of house burglaries and two motorcycle thefts. “Sharma was previously involved in over 40 property theft cases across various police jurisdictions in Hyderabad, Cyberabad, Rachakonda, and other districts. Police also seized two motorcycles and burglary tools, including an iron rod and a screwdriver,” said the police.

While he was incarcerated, he befriended other thieves and upon his release, he continued his criminal activities with their help. “He would steal motorcycles and equip himself with tools like iron rods and screwdrivers. Moving through different colonies at night, he would identify locked houses, and with the assistance of his associates, break into them by cutting door locks and opening cupboards to steal cash, gold, and silver ornaments. His associates would later dispose of the stolen property,” explained the police.

Due to his repeated offenses, the Charminar Police Station invoked the Preventive Detention (PD) Act against him in 2015 and 2016.

On January 19, the Task Force Central Zone team, acting on credible intelligence, arrested Sharma while he was attempting to commit another theft, using a stolen vehicle. He has been handed over to the Keesara police for further legal action.
