The overhead tank operators petitioned the district administration to make their employment permanent replacing the contractual arrangement currently in place.

The overhead tank operators from across the 10 panchayat unions petitioned the Collector during the weekly grievances meeting with a raft of demands.

The primary demand of the operators was to make their employment permanent. The OHT Operators’ Association also demanded welfare deductions to be paid up in their bank accounts. The deductions in the pay towards the group welfare fund made by the government for operators must be duly deposited in their bank accounts by the respective panchayat secretaries.

They also demanded health insurance cards under the health insurance scheme that were still to be issued to them.

Earlier, in the last two years, the OHT operators had petitioned the administration over these demands. Highlighting the earlier petitions, the OHT operators called for redressal of their grievances.
