Uttarandhra Cheruvula Parirakshana Samiti founder-president Marisarla Malati Krishnamurthy Naidu asked the State government to hold talks with Odisha to find out a permanent solution for the early completion of Jhanjavati project, which would provide irrigation facility for nearly 25,000 acres in Parvatipuram-Manyam district. Mr. Krishnamurthy Naidu had given a presentation in a round table conference organised by Jana Chaitanya Vedika president in Guntur on Sunday over the pending irrigation projects.
In a press release, he said that the association had organised ‘Kanniti Yatra’ to draw the attention of the people and government with regard to the delay in the completion of the Jhanjavati project which was taken up in 1976 at an estimated cost of ₹13.5 crore. He urged the government to protect the canals and tanks under the project. Mr. Krishnamurthy Naidu felt that it was not difficult to find a solution to the long-pending issue since NDA alliance parties were in power in Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and at the Centre.
