SVAMITVA Yojana ensuring development, law & order: Yogi
Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the implementation of SVAMITVA Yojana under which the PM issued around 65 lakh land ownership cards to rural citizens across India on Saturday.
Of these, the maximum of 45.35 lakh gharauni certificates were issued to residents of over 29,000 villages in Uttar Pradesh.
While the PM participated in the event virtually, the CM handed out property cards to some beneficiaries in a ceremony at his residence in Lucknow.
The CM outlined the importance of the scheme in ensuring law and order on one level and development on the other. Under the scheme, the revenue department carried out an extensive land demarcation exercise using drones and aligning with revenue records to determine ownership, reduce property disputes in villages, and ensure legal ownership of homes.
"This is the first time since independence that people in rural areas are being granted legal rights to their land. The construction of Gram Sachivalayas is taking place in each of the 57,000 gram panchayats in the state. This will create significant employment opportunities in every village," he said.
"These property cards are paving the way for new self-employment opportunities and boosting economic growth in the state. This initiative is expected to not only resolve revenue-related disputes but also accelerate economic development in rural areas," the CM said.
Highlighting the changes that have come about due to the scheme, Yogi said: "Earlier, powerful individuals would encroach on the land of villagers. With the introduction of property cards, rightful ownership is now being protected."
During Saturday's ceremony, the CM directed the revenue department to complete land surveys in the remaining villages. He asked the officials to take the assistance of ‘Drone Didis' to expedite the work of aerial surveys.
"Over 2.23 crore gharauni certificates have been prepared across India since the start of the programme, with 1.5 crore created in UP alone. Of these, more than 55 lakh gharaunis from 37,000 villages have already been distributed. On Saturday, an additional 45.35 lakh gharauni certificates, covering more than 29,000 villages, were handed out," the CM said.
