FIR against Haryana resident for submitting forged documents for clerk position in customs dept
Chandigarh: The UT police filed a case against a Haryana resident for allegedly submitting forged documents for a clerk position at the customs commissioner's office. The deception was discovered during a routine verification process by the department, prompting the joint commissioner of vigilance to file a police complaint.
The accused, Harwinder Singh, a resident of Rohtak, Haryana, claimed employment under the ex-serviceman quota, allegedly submitting what appeared to be certification from Rohtak District Zila Sainik Board.
The document stated that he served in the Army's Signal Corps from 1983 until 1990. However, official verification revealed that his military service ended in a compulsory discharge for being unsuitable for service.
Further scrutiny exposed additional irregularities in the certificate, which was dated March 2, 1993. Based on the findings, the customs department's joint commissioner filed a complaint, leading to the registration of fraud and forgery charges at Sector 17 police station.
The investigation confirmed that Harvinder Singh's 1990 army discharge was due to disciplinary issues, yet he proceeded to use falsified documentation for employment.
Sector 17 police registered a cheating case against Harwinder Singh and started a probe. No arrest has been made in the case so far.
