Asst director calls woman for movie role audition, rapes her

Hyderabad: A 32-year-old woman was allegedly raped by a man who trapped her on the pretext of offering her roles in movies. The accused, said to be an assistant director in the film industry, called the woman to a hotel in Krishna Nagar under the pretext of movie auditions and allegedly raped her in the hotel room, said police.
According to Jubilee Hills police, the woman, hailing from Andhra Pradesh, separated from her husband and shifted to the city for a livelihood. She joined a private company's housekeeping department a few months ago. Aspiring to become an actress, she shifted to a private hostel in Ameerpet. She started going around Krishna Nagar, hoping to land a chance in the film industry as a junior artiste. In this process, she came in touch with the accused, who assured her of a role in their movie.
After gaining her trust, he called her to a hotel in Krishna Nagar, where on the first day, he conducted a photo shoot and sent her back. The next day, when she came to the hotel as told by Raju for an audition, he allegedly molested and sexually assaulted her, police said.
On Friday, she lodged a complaint, following which a rape case was registered, and the woman was sent for medical examination and counselling, said a police official. A hunt is on to nab the accused, said the official.
