Two quacks arrested for running illegal clinic in Rajkot

Rajkot: Endangering lives with fake medical treatments, the Rajkot Special Operations Group (SOG) recently arrested two quacks for allegedly running illegal clinics without proper medical qualifications. Among them, one was posing as a doctor with only a class 10 qualification and the other held a homeopathic degree.

The clinics, located within the jurisdictions of the Gondal Taluka and Shapar-Veraval police stations, were uncovered during a raid, leading to a seizure of medical equipment, drugs, and injections valued at Rs 32,333.

During the raid, the police recovered Rs 4,790 worth of medical equipment from a clinic in Dholra village of Lodhika taluka and Rs 27,543 from a clinic in Pipaliya village in Gondal taluka. The accused were taken into custody following the raids on Friday.

As per the TOI news report, the arrested individuals have been identified as 37-year-old Rajesh Maradiya from Mavdi Chowk, Rajkot, and 29-year-old Raju Chauhan from Parvadi village.

In the first raid, Maradiya, who had studied only up to Class 10, was found running a clinic in Dholra village of Lodhika taluka for five years without any medical degree. Despite his lack of qualifications, he used his prior experience as a compounder in Rajkot hospitals to establish himself as a doctor. Among the items seized from his clinic were stethoscopes, scissors, torches, injections, disposable needles, blood pressure instruments and various modern medicines.

In the second raid, the SOG discovered that Raju Chauhan had been running the Shreeji Clinic in Pipaliya village, Gondal taluka, for six months. When he was asked to produce his medical degree, Chauhan showed a certificate from Sri Ganganagar Homoeopathic Medical College in Rajasthan but he was found prescribing and administering modern medicines. During the investigation, the police seized items from his clinic which included injections, syringes, glucose bottles and various medicines.

The operation which was carried out based on a tip-off led to the shocking discovery of quacks openly risking the health of innocent people who had no clue before visiting their clinics.
