Celebrating the release of ₹11,440 crore financial package to Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) by the Union government, MLAs, corporators and other political representatives from Jana Sena Party (JSP) performed ‘abhishekam’ with milk to the cutouts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan here on Saturday. They also distributed sweets during the celebrations organised in the party office at Seethampeta.

Later, speaking to the media, Pendurthi MLA Panchakarla Ramesb Babu said that some YSRCP leaders had criticised the NDA government over the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) privatisation issue after the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Visakhapatnam on January 8. Just a few days later, now the Union government has come forward to assist the steel plant for its revival. This shows the commitment of the NDA government towards the protection of the VSP, he said.

Anakapalli MLA Konathala Ramakrishna said that the NDA government would strive to ensure that the VSP get captive mines.

Visakhapatnam South MLA Vamsikrishna Srinivasa Yadav reminded the efforts made by Mr. Pawan Kalyan for the protection of the steel plant. He said that the Jana Sena Party chief had organised meetings in Visakhapatnam over the issue and spoke about the sentiments behind the VSP to the leaders from the Central government on many occasions.

Yelamanchili MLA S. Vijay Kumar and other leaders also spoke. A number of women activists also participated.
