Jaipur: One lakh fifty thousand beneficiaries in villages of Rajasthan received property ownership cards and leases under the Union govt's Swamitva scheme Saturday.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi distributed 65 lakh property cards under the scheme via video conferencing from New Delhi and interacted with beneficiaries, among them Rachna from Sriganganagar district.
Chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma joined the programme via video conference from the State Institute of Agricultural Management at Durgapura in Jaipur.
The CM said drone surveys were completed for 35,955 villages in the state under the Swamitva scheme, and 1.5 lakh property ownership cards were distributed in Rajasthan on Saturday. "The state govt's effort is to ensure that every village and villager benefits from this scheme, leaving no one deprived," he said.
Addressing the nation, Modi said the Swamitva scheme was initiated to provide legal documents of residential properties to people living in rural areas, and approximately 2.2 crore property cards have been issued under the scheme. He said many people have obtained loans from banks based on their property documents and started small businesses in their villages, making property cards a guarantee of economic security for small and medium farming families. Additionally, obtaining legal certificates frees many families from illegal encroachments and prolonged court disputes.
He said that property cards will help resolve land ownership disputes, identify panchayat land and grazing areas, and facilitate disaster management, thereby economically empowering village panchayats.
CM Sharma said through the Swamitva scheme, a "record of rights" is being provided to property owners in rural areas.
