Mohammed Attoor missing case: PCA dismisses driver’s petition

PCA dismisses the petition, citing Rajith Kumar’s repeated absence at its sittings held in Kozhikode

The Police Complaints Authority (PCA) has dismissed a petition filed by V.P. Rajith Kumar, the driver of missing Kozhikode-based businessman and real estate broker Attoor Mohammed aka Mami, who had alleged harassment by a special investigation team led by Additional Director General of Police M.R. Ajith Kumar during the 2023 disappearance case.

PCA North Zone chairperson S. Satheesh Chandrababu dismissed the petition citing Rajith Kumar’s repeated absence at its sittings held in Kozhikode.

On February 8, Rajith had filed a complaint alleging harassment by inspector P.K. Jijeesh and assistant sub-inspector M.V. Sreekanth from the special investigation team probing Mohammed’s disappearance. However, he failed to attend three PCA sittings where his complaint was reviewed, despite the officers appearing.

Rajith, who had been working as Mohammed’s driver for nearly 20 years, was earlier questioned by local police and the special investigation team. Over a week ago, he went missing following a Crime Branch interrogation. He was later found in Guruvayur with his wife.

Mohammed allegedly went missing from Arayidathupalam in Kozhikode on August 21. The Crime Branch took over the case after the Kerala High Court rejected his family’s plea for a Central Bureau of Investigation probe.
