Applications were invited from eligible Non-Governmental Organisations (NGO) or Community-Based Organisation (CBO) to establish and maintain State Shelter Home for transgender persons (transwomen) in Telangana.
The Department for Empowerment of Disability, Senior Citizens & Transgender persons issued a notification on Saturday inviting applications to cater to the primary need of providing shelter with basic amenities like food, medical care and recreational facilities to transgender persons who are facing social, psychological and economical constraints.
“Besides, it will provide support for the capacity-building/skill development of transgender persons. Liaisoning to provide legal care and psychological counselling to enable transgender persons to take steps for their reintegration into their families/society,” as per the notification.
