10 illegal shops on Waqf land razed

Ahmedabad: Approximately 3,679 square feet of illegal construction, including 10 shops on the ground floor, next to Kanch Mosque in Jamalpur was razed by the Estate TDO department of the Central Zone on Saturday.
AMC had issued a notice for removal of the illegal structures, which led people to file a petition in Gujarat high court. However, HC dismissed the petition, allowing the corporation to proceed with the demolition. The AMC carried out the demolition in the presence of police.
The issue of removing illegal constructions was raised by an MLA in a MP-MLA coordination committee meeting, prompting the corporation to take action.
