The Congress on Thursday said it will provide subsidised LPG cylinder at ₹500, a free ration kit, and 300 units of free electricity per month to every family if voted to power in Delhi.

The announcement was made by Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy at a press conference with All India Congress Committee Delhi in-charge Qazi Nizamuddin and Delhi Congress chief Devender Yadav. Mr. Reddy said the guarantees will help the people tackle inflation. “AAP and the BJP have ruined the lives of families with sky-rocketing inflation, but the Congress guarantee will take inflation out of the kitchens,” he said.

The free ration kit will contain 5 kg rice, 2 kg sugar, 1 litre edible oil, 6 kg pulses and 250 grams of tea.

Mr. Yadav said unlike the Aam Aadmi Party’s 200-unit-free power scheme, the Congress’s 300 units of free power will be implemented through direct bank transfer.

The promises are in addition to the ₹25 lakh health insurance cover for every resident under its proposed ‘Jeevan Raksha Yojana’, ₹2,500 per month to women under the ‘Pyari Didi Yojana’, and ₹8,500 every month for unemployed youth for one-year apprenticeship.

The party said it has come up with the five promises after receiving feedback from people during senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra and Mr. Yadav’s Delhi Nyay Yatra.
