GV Prakash Kumar Reveals Why He Still Works With Ex-Wife Saindhavi After Divorce: 'We Have Respect For...'

Music composer-actor GV Prakash Kumar and his wife, singer Saindhavi, split ways in 2024. However, they continue to collaborate in multiple projects. Most recently, Saindhavi surprised everyone by singing at her ex-husband’s concert in Malaysia. Now, GV Prakash Kumar has opened up about his ongoing professional relationship with Saindhavi, despite their divorce.
In a recent interview with Cinema Viketan, the talented music composer and singer revealed that the reason they still work together is rooted in mutual respect. He shared that even though their personal lives have changed, their professional bond remains strong because they value and respect each other’s work and contributions.

It was in December last yea when videos of Saindhavi singing at Prakash’s Malaysia concert went viral. When asked about the same, Prakash smiled and replied, “We are extreme professionals. And we have respect for each other. Because of that respect, we are there (and continue to collaborate)."
During the concert in Malaysia, Saindhavi and Prakash performed the song they provided the vocals for in 2011, Pirai Thedum from Dhanush-starrer Mayakkam Enna. While GV Prakash played the piano, Saindhavi sang beautifully on the stage.
Prakash and Saindhavi confirmed in May last year that they had split up. “After much reflection, Saindhavi and I have decided to part ways after 11 years of marriage, for the sake of our mental peace and betterment while preserving our mutual respect for each other," they wrote in the announcement.
Later, Prakash wrote, “It’s disheartening to see people debate about the union or separation of two people without proper understanding." Saindhavi also put rumours to rest that their ‘divorce is not due to any external force.’
Prakash had married his schoolmate, Saindhavi, in 2013. They became parents to a daughter, Anvi, in 2020.
