Varun Dhawan Starts Border 2 Shoot In Jhansi, Sunny Deol And Diljit Dosanjh To Join Later

Varun Dhawan has finally kickstarted the shooting for the first schedule for his upcoming patriotic action film Border 2. Helmed by Anurag Singh, known for Kesari, the first leg of the shooting is taking place in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh. The film also features Sunny Deol, Diljit Dosanjh and Ahan Shetty in lead roles and will be released on the big screens on the occasion of Republic Day 2026.

Border 2, set in the highly secluded military cantonment areas of Jhansi, aims to showcase raw emotions and heroism with its gripping storyline, intense action sequences and heartfelt drama.

Taking to Instagram, the makers dropped a picture from the sets of Border 2 which depicts Varun posing alongside producers Bhushan Kumar and Nidhi Dutta, co-producer Shiv Chanana and director Anurag Singh. The actor could be seen wearing a grey T-shirt paired with blue jeans. He layered the outfit with a black leather jacket and sported a mustache look. He held the clapboard of the film with Kumar and Dutta.

The post caption reads, “Action, grit, and patriotism! Actor Varun Dhawan begins the #Border2 journey in the scenic cantonment areas of Jhansi with producers Bhushan Kumar and Nidhi Dutta, co-producer Shiv Chanana, and director Anurag Singh leading the way. January 23, 2026—Get ready for an unforgettable saga!"

However, Sunny Deol, Ahan Shetty and Diljit Dosanjh will also begin shooting for the film in the coming months.

Earlier in August 2024, Varun expressed his happiness for being a part of Border 2 in a long post on X. He wrote, “Playing a role in Border 2, produced by J P sir and Bhushan Kumar, is a very special moment in my career. And I get to work with Sunny Paaji, which makes it even more amazing. I am excited to put a heroic Jawaan’s narrative to the screen in what promises to be India’s biggest war film. I seek your well wishes. Jai Hind!"

Varun was recently seen in the action thriller film Baby John. Directed by Kalees and produced by Atlee, the film failed at the box office. He will be next seen in the romantic drama film Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari opposite Janhvi Kapoor. Helmed by Shashank Khaitan, the film will be released in April this year.
