After sustaining a back injury during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia, India's incredibly talented fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has addressed concerns about his health. As they await word from the National Cricket Academy (NCA) on Bumrah's recuperation, Team India's management has decided to postpone the selection meeting by one week.

According to sources, Bumrah was told to take it easy at home and stay away from competitive cricket for a while. However, the initial post on X (formerly known as Twitter) was swiftly taken down following Bumrah's response to the news.

Bumrah reacted to the post by saying, “I know fake news is easy to spread but this made me laugh. Sources unreliable.”

Bumrah is scheduled to start his rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) after preliminary evaluations showed that he did not have a fracture but is experiencing back swelling. Throughout his three-week stay, the NCA will closely monitor his recuperation. According to BCCI sources, Bumrah is anticipated to participate in one or two games to gauge his level of fitness following his recuperation.

India missed the ICC's deadline of January 12 to reveal their Champions Trophy team. India is yet to reveal their squads, but six of the eight participating teams—including the host country, Pakistan—have already done so.

The national selectors recently met in Mumbai to confirm the team for the forthcoming T20 series against England and received an update on Bumrah's current fitness level. Although the ICC's deadline for submitting Champions Trophy squads was Sunday, the BCCI has officially asked for an extension.

In Australia, Bumrah bowled 151.2 overs in five Test matches, with an outstanding average of 13.06 and strike rate of 28.3. He took over as captain for the first Test in Perth after Rohit Sharma was unable to play. Additionally, Bumrah led the team in the last Test in Sydney, while Rohit rested.
