Hubballi: Members of the Karnataka Rajya Hiriya Nagarikara Kshemabhivrudhi Sangha staged a massive protest rally to demand various changes from Nehru Maidan to Chennamma Circle here on Thursday. Led by Vijay Deshamukh, president of Akila Bharata Hiriya Nagarikara Jeevana Gourava Abhiyan, the protesters marched from Nehru Maidan via Ambedkar Circle and Chennamma Circle and staged a protest at Mini Vidhana Soudha.They raised slogans against both the central and state govts and made several demands. Deshamukh said that a proposal seeking a separate ministry for senior citizens, Rs 10,000 for BPL card holders, and the announcement of senior citizens as a national asset to the Union govt was already sent. The govt should fulfill all these demands in the upcoming budget. The Abhiyan will continue until the govt meets all these demands, he added.
