Jamshedpur: The IRCTC-run restaurant at the Tatanagar railway station was shut down on Tuesday, four days after its reopening, the restaurant manager said.
In his complaint to the railway police (GRP) of Tatanagar, ‘Re-fresh Food Track' manager Mahendra Singh said, "Criminals stopped the supply agents from delivering ingredients needed to prepare dishes to the eatery, leading to insufficient stock of raw materials. They aim to take over the control of the restaurant operations."
Officer in-charge of the Tatanagar GRP, Rampyare Ram, said "The police are investigating the matter. The supply agents are being questioned. CCTV footage and call details will be examined to ascertain the allegations."
The railway's catering corporation reopened the restaurant on January 10 following 22 days of closure. Earlier, the restaurant was closed on 18 December 2024, after the operator failed to comply with the terms and conditions of the IRCTC.
Former member of the Zonal Railway Users' Consultative Committee (ZRUCC), Suresh Sonthalia, said, "The railway's catering corporation-run restaurant is the only eatery for railway staff and passengers at Tatanagar. The shop should be reopened at the earliest."
The Tatanagar junction, the only A1 category station of the Chakradharpur division, handles 90 pairs of trains daily across six platforms and sees around 50,000 daily visitors.
