The accused has been identified through the CCTV footage of him using the staircase to escape from the apartment building. As per the preliminary probe, the intruder did not force his entry or break into the actor’s 12th-floor flat in the Satguru Sharan building, but possibly sneaked in at some point earlier in the night.
The intruder fled from the spot following the incident which took place at around 2.30 am.

DCP Dixit Gedam confirmed that the intruder broke into the house with the intention of burglary.
Many opposition leaders raised concerns about the safety of Mumbai city after the incident and also demanded the resignation of Devendra Fadnavis as Maharashtra Home Minister.
As a reply Mr. Fadnavis said the attack was a serious incident, but it would be wrong to call Mumbai unsafe because of it. Maharashtra Minister of State for Home Yogesh Kadam said the Opposition was trying to politicise the attack.
