NGOs train youth on food entrepreneurship

Senapati, January 15 2025: Kolkata based NGO Prayasam, in collaboration with AMYAA NGO, Senapati organised a cooking training programme for nine youths from Oklong Maryram village on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The training is aimed at empow ering the local youth with the skills and knowledge required to venture into food entrepreneurship, ultimately promoting tourism in the region.
The hills of Manipur, rich in culture and heritage, hold immense potential for tourism.
Oklong Maryram village in Senapati district, considered the origin of the Zeliangrong Naga tribes, is one such destination that can attract tourists from India and abroad.
The cooking training programme is a significant step towards harnessing this potential.
On the first and second day of the training, the participants were given hands-on training in preparing popular dishes, including chicken keema masala, chicken 65, butter chicken and Kashmiri aloo dum.
Ateshwar from Prayasam's Prasaad team facilitated the training as the main resource person, guiding the participants through the preparation of these iconic dishes.
The event was attended by Tim Forrest, a top food chain entrepreneur from Georgia, USA; Saptarshi Ray from Prayasam Kolkata; and RK Paul Chawang from AMYAA, NGO.
This initiative is expected to not only promote tourism in the region but also provide a platform for local youth to showcase their culinary skills ,and entrepreneurship.
By empowering the youth, Prayasam and AMYAA, NGO aim to contribute to the overall development of the region.
