Lucknow: The Madeyganj police exhumed the body of the auto driver from the grave on Wednesday in the presence of family members and sent it for the postmortem examination. However, due to some reasons, the postmortem could not be conducted.
The deceased auto driver Rizwan was shot dead on the night of December 30. Later, it was turned out to be a case of mistaken identity as the shooters' real target was a retired railway employee. The police had arrested the accused Aftab, a resident of Para, Krishnakant, a resident of Rae Bareli and Mohd Yasir, a resident of Hussainganj, on Sunday morning. When the links were connected, it was found that Aftab had conspired to kill the retired railway employee, who was father of Aftab's girl friend living in Delhi.
The auto driver's son Fayan had sought fresh postmortem as he had doubts over report of the postmortem examination conducted earlier. On Wednesday morning, the police sent the body for re-postmortem. However, police station in-charge Rajesh Singh said that due to some reasons the post-mortem could not be conducted. Now, it will be done on Thursday. The deceased's nephew Mashruf said that the doctor, who had to conduct the second post-mortem, arrived late in the evening.
Assistant commissioner of police, Mahanagar, Neha Tripathi told TOI that the purpose of the fresh postmortem is to make the case watertight with evidence.
Another officer said that a striation test will be conducted by ballistics experts of the country-made pistol recovered from the accused to trace the evidence of the same weapon used to kill Rizwan.
