Lucknow: A man tried to crush his friend to death by running a jeep over him, following dispute over money. As a result, the man was injured seriously. Police registered an FIR on Wednesday, based on the victim's complaint.
Police stated Golu Gupta, resident of Bachhrawan in Rae Bareli, had lent Rs 5.75 lakh to his friend Swapnil Soni and even after a long period had passed, Swapnil was not returning the money.
Police arrested the accused from Shani Mandir intersection in Telibagh on charges of breach of peace.
On Saturday, both friends had come to Lucknow in Swapnil's jeep. In Telibagh market, there was a dispute between the two over money. An angry Swapnil told Golu to get out of the car. Golu was walking towards Shani Mandir Chowk when Swapnil drove towards him and hit him from behind, injuring Golu's leg and head.
After Golu fell, Swapnil tried to crush him with the car but bystanders caught Swapnil, who was trying to escape. Golu was admitted to trauma centre, where his condition remains critical.
According to PGI police station in charge Ravi Shankar Tripathi, on the day of the incident, Swapnil's car was seized and a challan was issued for disturbing peace. Now a case has been registered on the complaint of the victim's mother and the matter is being investigated.
