20 assistant commissioners transferred
In wake of the recruitment scam that surfaced at the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), the standing committee of the civic body decided to transfer officials who have remained in their positions for over three years. On Thursday, municipal commissioner M Thennarasan issued orders to transfer 20 assistant commissioners, six deputy health officers and two additional engineers.The assistant commissioners, who had overseen the same ward for five years without any transfers, were reassigned to different locations as part of this initiative.
VS Hospital's Rs 244.9 crore budget approved
The draft budget of Rs 244.9 crore for VS Hospital for 2025-26 was approved during a meeting chaired by the city mayor on Thursday. The heritage structure of VS Hospital will be renovated and retrofitted at the cost of Rs 25 crore. The authorities have set aside Rs 15 crore for similar restoration at the Chinai Maternity Home's heritage building. The budget includes Rs 50 lakh towards upgrading the nursing school and its hostel facilities. According to the draft budget, VS Hospital anticipates an income of Rs 2.14 crore, besides Rs 2 crore state govt grant.
Rs 25 crore allocated for amenities at religious places
The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) standing committee on Thursday sanctioned Rs 25 crore towards providing essential amenities at religious establishments and trust properties within Ahmedabad city. The committee chairman, Devang Dani, said, "The AMC will allocate Rs 5 lakh for basic facilities at religious institutions. These works can include water, sewage, paver blocks, lights, water coolers, and solar panels. To receive assistance from the AMC, the trusts of religious institutions will need to pass a resolution and submit it, based on which the funds will be allocated."
