Sankranti celebrations conclude in Guntur

Narasaraopet MP Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu on Wednesday (January 15) wished farmers good return on their produce and students, success in their upcoming examinations.

He was addressing a gathering at the concluding celebrations of Sankranti at NTR Stadium in Guntur city.

Saying that a majority of the city residents had their origins in villages, Mr. Sri Krishna Devarayalu opined that the atmosphere of the hinterland was recreated during the festival celebrations.

TDP MLA Nakka Anandababu said the NTR Stadium, which had not been maintained properly during the past five years, has again resumed all the activities.

MLA Kanna Lakshminarayana said Sankranti marks the harvesting period and brings happiness to all. He lauded Guntur Municipal Corporation Commissioner Puli Srinivasulu for organising the festival well this year.

Mr. Srinivasulu said they held various programmes on the three days of Bhogi, Sankranti and Kanuma in a traditional manner.
