New Delhi: Taking a dig at AAP functionaries and alleging that the party was trying to disrupt Delhi's social harmony and security, Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva said on Wednesday that former CM Arvind Kejriwal "gave false statements about the demolition of slums".
He was referring to Kejriwal's remark on Sunday in Shakur Basti, where the AAP convenor claimed that "BJP would demolish all Delhi slums if voted to power". The former CM, accusing the BJP of prioritising land acquisition over the welfare of slum dwellers, had said: "They (BJP) want your votes first and your land after the elections."
Lashing out at Kejriwal, Sachdeva said, "These statements are inexcusable and will not be forgiven by people of Delhi." He stated that by engaging in fearmongering, AAP will intensify attempts to disrupt social harmony.
Sachdeva also targeted AAP MLA Naresh Balyan, claiming that in West Delhi, crimes like extortion and looting of traders have increased over the past few years. "Even a BJP leader was murdered in one such case. Probe linked such incidents to AAP MLA Naresh Balyan, who was arrested under MCOCA for his role in organised crime," he alleged.
Sachdeva said AAP MLAs like Amanatullah Khan, Prakash Jarwal, Akhilesh Pati Tripathi, and Sanjeev Jha, who face accusations of criminal activities, also continue to demand justice.
In response to Sachdeva's remark, AAP said, it was BJP's old tactic to make such allegations. "They are politicising even sensitive issues involving children. They lodge fake cases against our leaders, but in court, the truth prevails, and our leaders walk away with clean chits," said the party.
"Schools across the country received bomb threats, including Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan. Such a grave issue should not be politicised," said AAP, adding, "The BJP has no regard for women's safety in the country. Haryana BJP president stands booked for gang rape, while in Tamil Nadu, a BJP leader was arrested for assaulting a minor girl."
